Over 100 saved at VBS this year!

June 13th, 2008

Well, my first Lavon Drive VBS is over, and what a time it was. Don’t know yet how many kids got saved last night, but on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, a total of 104 kids gave their lives to Jesus, and it was so exciting to be a small part of that. over 200 volunteers made it happen, and I think last night there must have been over 1200 kids there. I’ve posted a bunch of pictures, and you can see them here.Sony dSLR A-100

Back from New York & Carnegie Hall!

March 19th, 2008

Had a great trip to NYC with the choir from 1st Baptist Church of Crowley, TX. We sang Rutter’s Requiem with about 230 other singers at Carnegie Hall, and it was just incredible! Saw the Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero, Phantom of the Opera, and enjoyed the delightful sights and smells of the NY subway system… Check out the pictures: www.RyanAndSarahJohnston.com/wpg2

GIC starts tonight

February 20th, 2008

Our big missions conference starts up tonight! This will be our first big “to do” since I started at the church. I’m praying that God is truly glorified tonight and that we all are encouraged to be greater evangelists and greater supporters of missions. I hope everyone is praying for that!

GIC Dress rehearsal… good times!

February 17th, 2008

Our big GIC dress rehearsal is over.  Grueling, but a great time!  Still a few rough edges we need to polish up this coming Wednesday, but I think we’ll have a great presentation to open the missions conference.  Sarah and I taking in a missionary family here at the last minute.  Sarah’s very excited that we’re getting to put our spare bedrooms to good use :)   Should be a good time!

GIC, Coming up!

February 17th, 2008

Things are a bit nuts in preparation for our big missions conference, but we’re loving it here! Pray that we make it through the week :)

Beginning a new chapter…

December 12th, 2007

It’s hard to believe, but after seven and a half years of training for ministry, we’ll be moving on now to a full-time position as Worship Pastor at Lavon Drive Baptist Church in Garland, TX. We’ll greatly miss the family we’ve grown to love at Pleasant Glade, but God has been good to lead us to this new place of service where I can more fully exercise the calling God has given me. I start at the church January 7, though my first Sunday won’t be until the 20th. Pleasant Glade just called a new pastor two weeks ago, and he’ll be starting on the 6th. I don’t want his first Sunday to be my last! So, I’ll lead worship at Pleasant Glade on the 6th and 13th, and then transition to Lavon on the 20th. Should be a good time! Please be in prayer for us as we make this move.
